A Brief History

The Faculty of Economics and Business at Trisakti University was established on November 29, 1965. At the time of its establishment, it only had one study program, namely the Corporate Economics Study Program. During the leadership of Drs. Hariry Hadi as the first Dean (1965-1968), improvements began to be made in the areas of organization, teaching staff, administrative staff, and especially in the area of facilities and infrastructure. The Business Economics Study Program was upgraded to “Accredited” status through the Decree of the Director General of Higher Education No. 51/1966 dated July 14, 1966.

During the leadership of Mulyatno Sindhudarmoko, SE (1968-1978), the Accounting Study Program was opened. In addition to improvements in the fields of Education and Teaching, Research and Community Service received serious attention with the signing of a cooperation agreement between the Faculty of Economics and Business, Trisakti University, and several DKI Jakarta Provincial Government Departments to carry out Applied Research and Community Service activities.

Under the leadership of Drs. Saroso, Ak. (1978-1986), the semester credit system was implemented in accordance with the Decree of the Minister of Education and Culture No. 0124/U/1979 dated June 8, 1979 and No. 0211/U/1982 dated June 6, 1982. Development from the perspective of study programs was evident with the opening of the Economics and Development Studies Study Program in 1985. The Management Study Program was upgraded to “Recognized” status by Decree of the Minister of Education and Culture No. 0267/O/1981 and became “Equivalent” by Decree of the Minister of Education and Culture No. 413/O/1985 dated October 1, 1985. The Accounting Study Program was upgraded to “Recognized” status based on the Decree of the Minister of Education and Culture No. 0334/0/1985 dated July 27, 1985.

During the leadership of Drs. Sudarno Sastrosubando (1986-1989), the status of the Economics and Development Studies Program was upgraded from operational permit to “Registered” with the Decree of the Minister of Education and Culture Number: 0213/O/1987 dated April 11, 1987 and “Recognized” with Decree Number: 023/O/1989 dated April 27, 1989. In addition, the status of the Accounting Study Program became “Equivalent” through Decree No. 023/O/1989 dated April 27, 1989.

Drs. Yuswar Zainul Basri, Ak, served as Dean for two terms (1989-1995). During this period, two programs were introduced to reduce the number of students dropping out and to improve the quality of graduates, namely the Tutoring Program to reduce the number of students dropping out and the Remedial Semester program to help improve the quality of graduates. The Economics and Development Studies Study Program was given “Equivalent” status by Decree No. 494/DIKTI/KEP/1993, dated August 16, 1993, while the Management and Accounting Study Programs were re-established as “Equivalent” with Decree No. 098/DIKTI/KEP/1994, dated April 9, 1994.

Dr. Chairuman Armia, MA, who was entrusted with leading the Faculty of Economics and Business from 1995 to 2001, had a mission to make the Faculty of Economics and Business at Trisakti University known in the world of international education. During this period, cooperation with Edith Cowan University in Australia began as an initial step toward a dual degree program. During this period, all three study programs within the Faculty of Economics and Business achieved A accreditation status.

From 2002 to 2011, the Faculty of Economics and Business at Trisakti University was led by Prof. Dr. Hj. Farida Jasfar, ME, PhD. During this period, the Faculty of Economics and Business opened an Elite Class program and expanded its collaboration for dual degree programs with Indiana University Purdue University Indiana Polis (UIPUI) and the University of Missouri St Louis (MSL). In addition, several study programs were opened, such as: Master’s and Doctoral Programs in Economics with a concentration in Sharia Economics and Finance (2002), Master’s in Management with a concentration in Hospitality Management (2004), Master’s in Economics (2005), and the Accounting Education Program (PPAk) in 2006. The Applied Bachelor’s Degree (D4) in Finance was established in 2008. The D3 programs for the three study programs, namely D3 Public Sector Accounting, D3 Sharia Finance and Banking, and D3 Service Management (2008), as well as the Doctoral Program in Accounting (2010). In addition, during this period there was also a change in the curriculum to 144 credits for the three study programs. During this period, two reaccreditations were conducted for the three programs, namely the 1999–2004 period and the 2004–2010 period, with the result that all three programs maintained their A accreditation status.

In September 2012, during the 2011-2012 period, the Faculty of Economics and Business at Trisakti University was led by Prof. Dr. Sofyan S. Harahap (late), and then by Prof. Dr. H. Yuswar Z. Basri, Ak, MBA as Acting Dean until May 2012. In June 2012, the academic year 2012/2013 to the academic year 2019/2020, the Faculty of Economics and Business, Trisakti University, was led by Prof. Dr. Bambang Sudaryono, Ak, MBA, CA, CPA. During his leadership period, 6 study programs within the Faculty of Economics and Business received A Accreditation. During this period, the KKNI-based curriculum was also implemented, along with online learning through the Febiola Platform (Usakti Faculty of Economics and Business Online Learning). FEB also became a member of AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business). Additionally, under his leadership, the faculty obtained ISO 9001:2015 international certification and SINTA accreditation for journals published within the scope of FEB.

In January 2020, the leadership of FEB was taken over by Dr. Yolanda Masnita Siagian, MM, for the 2020–2025 period. At the beginning of her leadership period, FEB Universitas Trisakti received QS Stars 3 certification. The Development Economics undergraduate program also received AUN-QA international certification, and the Master of Accounting program received ISO 9100-2015 certification in 2019. FEB Usakti also extended the accreditation of the Master of Accounting (Maksi) program, the Professional Accountant (PPA) program, and the D3 MICE program. In July 2021, FEB Usakti received a grant from the Indonesian Student Micro Credit (KMMI). In addition, in order to strengthen the implementation of the Indonesian National Qualifications Framework (KKNI) curriculum, a policy was formulated for an outcome-based education (OBE) approach to the educational process. In order to respond to industry needs and developments in the environment, a policy was formulated to implement the Merdeka Belajar – Kampus Merdeka (Independent Learning – Independent Campus) curriculum and to carry out online teaching and learning activities in the 2020/2021 academic year and also in the upcoming 2021/2022 academic year.
